NOW BENSOUDA WANTS THREE KENYANS SURRENDERED TO ICC

ICC PROSECUTOR FATOU BENSOUDA

Stung by the termination of the last high-profile Kenyan case,ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda yesterday turned to three other Kenyans.She accused Walter Barasa,Paul Gicheru and Phillip Kipkoech Bett of interfering with witnesses in the case.
In a long-winded statement reacting to Tuesdays dropping of charges against Deputy President William Ruto and his co-accused Joshua arap Sang,the prosecutor demanded immediate surrender of Barasa,Gicheru and Bett.
She blamed a perfect storm of witness interference and intense politicization of her case for its collapse.The prosecutor was at pains to explain her efforts to nail the duo and indicated her resolve to cling on the remaining three for redemption.
Bensouda wants them in on charges of obstructing the courses of justice in the case against Ruto and Sang.
None of the three suspects,who have been charged by the court with obstructing the course of justice in this case,has yet been surrendered to the court by the Government of Kenya.I call on the authorities of the Republic of Kenya to fulfill their obligations under the Rome Statute and surrender these three suspects to the court without further delay,she said.
She said the hostile environment referenced in Tuesday decision under-scored the necessity for the Government of Kenya to surrender the three to the custody of the court.
With regard to the decision terminating the case against Ruto and Sang,the prosecutor said her office was still in the process of carefully assess sing the decision to determine the appropriate steps to take.
In the statement,Bensouda expressed her frustration with the Kenyan Government,the judicial arm of the court and sections of Kenyans.

RAILA MEETS WETANGULA AFTER CHAOS

Opposition leader Raila Odinga yesterday met his co-principal Moses wetangula for the first tyme since the latter's chaotic presidential bid launch on Saturday. The launch meeting at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi was also attended by wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to stem a looming fall out with opposition ranks. The details emerged as political tension in the three cord affiliated parties continued to simmer, with wetangula's allies claiming ODM is threatened by growing popularity on ford Kenya.
However, coalition insider have accused wetangula of reneging on a deal by the cord chiefs to allow the coalition management board to co-ordinate his presidential launch rally.
"Wetangula reneged on this agreement and insisted the launch was a ford Kenya affair. In fact, he hit the roof over a press statement that was sent out after the coalition meeting', A Raila ally said,
Part of the deal was that wetangula and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya would address a joint press conference at Golf Hotel in Kakamega two days to the rally to defuse tension.
 The agreement was also explicit that K
akamega senator Bony Khaklwale would not use the occasion to launch his governor bid.

The ICC against deputy president William president has finally collapsed but will this strengthen or weaken him politically.
On the other hand, he can no longer seek the sympathy vote as a victim of an ICC conspiracy and will have to compete with his opponents on an equal footing. On he other hand, he no longer needs government support to ensure he remains a freeman.
Ruto has been the political boss of Rift valley for most of the last decade and there were wild celebrations last night in eldoret over the verdict.
"This case been a real thorn in the flesh for the DP and residents of Rift-valley with the case over, it will strengthen him and the working relationship with jubilee a head of 2017 polls," said Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen, his closet ally in the region.
He said the friendship between Ruto ad resident Kenyatta will be reinforced in the run-up to the 2017 election.
" More importantly the DP will now prepare to take over leadership after president Uhuru in 2022", said Murkomen. Some local leaders speculated that Ruto might now be emboldened to even run for presidency in 2017.

TECHNICIANS UNDERGO TREATMENT AFTER CHEATING DEATH IN POWER ACCIDENT.

Two elctricians believed to have been electrocuted while installing a power meter in Nakuru did not die, kenya power has said.
A disturbing video circulating on the social media shows two men in flames as they are 'electrocuted' while on duty. Kenya power said its safety engineers are investigating an accident in which two techicians of a company it had contracted sustained electrical burns as they were installing a large outdoor power meter in Nakuru on suday eveninig.
Kenya power general manager for network management, Mr, Daniel Tare, said the two Mr. Felix Odhiambo and Mr. Peter Omend were taken to a Nakuru hospital following accident.

D-DAY FOR RUTO AS ICC MAKES CRUCIAL RULING

The international criminal court will today decide if deputy president William Ruto and radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang will be put on their defense for crimes against humanity charges. Judges Chile Eboue -Osuji, Olga Herrera Carbuccia and Robert Fremr will rule whether or not the two have a case to answer, a decision which will have a far-reaching implication on the deputy president's political carrier.
Should the judges rule that both have a case to answer , they will be put on their defense and might be requires to call witnesses. A converse ruling will lead to the collapse of the caSe and freedom for the two co-accused from the charges of crime against humanity arising from the 07/08 post election violence in Kenya.
Mr. Ruto and Mr, Sang's legal team filed the no-case to answer application last December saying that ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda had not built a case to have put on their defense. The application was heard in January this year but the judges blocked the defense teams from  presenting witnesses to support their arguments . However, lawyer Karim Khan for Mr. Arap sang argued  that the case have collapsed after the prosecution failed to present adequate evidence.
Today,s ruling will be posted on the ICC website at 6 Pm.

PRESIDENT UHURU DEPARTS FOR STATE VISIT TO FRANCE AND GERMANY

President Uhuru kenyatta left the country today morning for state visit to France and Germany. The plane carrying the president and his delegation departed Jomo kenyatta international airport shortly after 9.00 am and was seen off by interior cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaiserry and General Samson Mwathethe among other senior government officials.While in Paris, president Kenyatta, who is accompanied by the first lady Margret Kenyatta, will hold bilateral talks with the host president Francois Hollande among other engagements. Kenya greatly appreciate France as a long standing friend and prized partner. France is the 6th largest in investor in Kenya. Kenya is the largest recipient of french oversees developing assistance. Through the African development Bank, the french government has committed sh. 88.5b to Kenya as France has a wider range of projects in the country. Talks between the two leaders will also focus on the matter of security with president Kenyatta and his host seeking a strategic partnership that will stem the use of violent extremism in Africa and the globe.

Mombasa Governor ali hassan joho yesterday opened the new mtongwe-kenya navy feeder road. Hassan joho was accompanied by mvita member of parliament abdiswaamad, kilifi member of parliament Aisha Jumwa, likoni women representative Mishi mboko and the newly elected malindi member of parliament Willy Mtengo.
Speaking at mtogwe beach, Joho said that those fighting him on the basis of his development should shut their mouth untill campaign time. He also said that the county government is trying all ways possible to push through the national government to see that the new mtongwe ferry is bought to enhance quick service delivery. On upgrading the beach, the Governor promised the residents that the lighting had started to enhance security on the beach for people to enjoy the white sands in the region. Mishi Mboko the likoni women representative promised to push for the women fund improvement in the parliament to help the women develop themselves in the region.After the meeting, the leaders went for another function at Consolata mission in Likoni.
